Week 4 Scoring Recap

Here's what I love about this season. Perhaps more than any other season I can remember, I feel like I can pretty much tell you who will be eliminated between now and the top five. Maybe not in the right order (obviously, considering I haven't been banking on elimination points as of yet) but I think Ben has a list of women he's completely uninterested in and he's just going down the list, knocking one girl off after another. He kept Samantha around this long because she's pretty and he kept Monica because she pretty much left him alone and didn't bother him as often as Erika and Jaclyn did. But eventually, it was their time and BOOM, out they go. I think this is best illustrated by the quick manner with which he dismissed Samantha. She gets a little liquid courage and confronts him about why, you know, he basically hasn't talked to her during the first three weeks and he IMMEDIATELY let's her know it's because she's obnoxious and he has no interest in her whatsoever and while we're talking about it, why don't you just go ahead and get the heck out here.

That's how this dude operates. There are five, maybe six girls who have a chance at winning this thing and the rest of them, pretty much no matter what they do, will go home in some order or another and they'll probably be eliminated in slightly cold fashion, also a staple of Ben's personality. There's very little, "you're a great person, we just didn't click" or whatever; it's, "let me walk you to the car" and goodbye. I'm betting there are a lot of girls in the wine country who have been similarly dismissed by Ben. I mean, girls, can you imagine going on a blind date with this guy? He has zero facial expressions, he's got not time for any nonsense (unless it involves Blakeley doing a "stomp" dance on a table), and at the end of the night, if he wasn't 100% into you, he's sending you home with very little comfort or the obligatory, "okay, I'll call you." On some level you have to respect that but man, it's pretty cold.

As far as the girls go, the longer Courtney and Nicki can stay on the show, the better. Both of them REEK of crazy in two completely different ways: Courtney is the classic mean girl who has an overly inflated sense of importance and Nicki is so incredibly desperate that it's almost sad. She WILL have a serious breakdown before this is all said and done. Mark it down. (Also, Nicki, yellow nail polish with your black cocktail dress? Really?) Casey S. remains the biggest mystery in the history of The Bachelor. I don't have any idea what to make of that girl other than this comparison: she's totally Amanda Seyfried in Mean Girls. She's SUPER dumb and clearly doesn't know have any friends so she latches onto the house bully because she's too dense to figure out that Courtney is a horrible, possibly mentally ill, person. That brings us to Emily. I can't decide if I like this girl or not. She seems fairly normal which is a plus but at the same time, there's something wrong about her. She looks like someone who's spent a significant amount of time playing beer pong (never a good look, ladies) and she is most certainly NOT a crier. But she's the wild card in my opinion; she could end up in the top 3 or go home next week.

I truly enjoyed the fact that at the cocktail party, while Ben talked to a number of girls individually, the cameras just stuck with the drama of the Courtney-Emily conflict. For all we know Ben was barring his soul to Monica in a side room but we'll never know because all the cameras showed us was Courtney acting like a nutbag. I love that because clearly ABC figured out that Ben is about as boring as a human can be and whatever he has to say to these girls individually is far less important than Emily's ugly cry face. Good call, ABC.

Best Moments of the Night: Nothing really stood out to me as especially fantastic. But I did enjoy Monica weeping on the limo ride home and talking about how she wanted a husband and kids. Do you? Because you really didn't act like it over the last four weeks. In fact, you expressed more interest in Blakeley than you ever did in Ben. And speaking of Blakeley, if you haven't deleted your recording yet, go back and watch the ring ceremony. Blakeley's boobs are in four out of every five shots. Note to ABC: put that girl on the front row so that every once in a while, we can catch a glimpse of the rest of the girls and not Blakeley's stuff. Geez.

Best Line of the Night: "I'm a nice person. Don't (eff) with me." - Courtney. Those two concepts don't go together, kiddo, but well done.
